ELT well bespoke training
Opportunities for professional development can be hard to fit into a busy term, but good teachers know how vital on-going training is for maintaining high standards, and building career momentum.
ELT well workshops offer you the chance to explore the issues whenever and wherever it suits you, making professional development as easy as 1-2-3:
1) choose the topic/s you want to explore
2) decide how long the workshop/s should be (half a day, an evening, a whole day, a weekend...)
3) hold them in your own venue, or come to Lancaster for a real break from your normal routine
(subject to recruitment of at least 6 participants - for prices see the bottom of this page).
All workshops cover the current legal requirements, and enough of the theoretical background to
help you understand which strategies and techniques may succeed better than others.
But the main focus is always on practical approaches to working with learners - how you can make
a difference in your classroom.
Examples of half-day workshops:
- Including language learners with specific learning differences
(e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, AD/HD, Asperger's syndrome) - Including language learners with a hearing or visual impairment
- Developing literacy through language teaching
- Communication bridges
- Testing language learners **
**Please note: this half-day workshop focuses on the production of valid and reliable language assessment tools and does not include strategies for identifying
dyslexia in students who do not have English as a first language. If that is your main interest, please ask about the 1-day course on assessment, below.
Examples of one-day workshops:
- Including language learners with emotional and specific learning differences
- Identifying dyslexia in multilingual learners
- Working with pre-Entry level students (i.e. beginners)
Your choice of any two of the half-day options can be combined into a whole day workshop,
OR
suggest your own programme, which can be tailored to suit the particular needs of your school or department.
